SG Civic Engagement is providing FGCU students with the opportunity to volunteer in Biloxi, Mississippi. on our 2011 ALTERNATIVE WINTER BREAK. While there, we will be tackling the issues of hunger and homelessness, education, as well as natural disaster relief and recovery”. We selected approximately 22 participants, who will have the chance to make a positive impact in Biloxi, which can often be overlooked.
This will continue the FGCU tradition of providing students with positive and productive options in contrast to the common break activities that college students engage in. SG Civic Engagement will be providing the cost of lodging, transportation, meals and registration so there is NO OUT-OF POCKET EXPENSE to those selected!
The trip will take place during Winter Break from Sunday, December 18th through Friday, 23rd , 2011.
The APPLICATION DEADLINE to apply to be a Participant or a Site Leader has passed, but there will be an Alternative Spring Break trip and the deadline for that will be published soon. Any currently registered part-time or full-time student is eligible to apply, regardless of experience or if they have previously attended one of our Alternative Breaks.
